So much of the physical healing I have ahead will be in the work of weaving my sternum back together — the healing embodied in the ancient prayer “ cnámh go cnámh, feoil go feoil, cuisle go cuisle” — “bone to bone, flesh to flesh, vessel to vessel.” And it cannot be separated from the work of weaving back together a life that has been broken open in small and large ways to allow something very old and very new to emerge.
