Oh, Seán, what a gift. I am gratefully revising parts of my own word-offering this Brigid's Day in light of the way you frame belief and relationship. Such. Good. Stuff. Míle buíochas.

I've been thinking of this a few days now and pondering something that does trouble me. If one abandons the idea that metaphysical beliefs are what defines you, is Christianity still there? Because I think that we - I - often associate those two things.

I mean, in your case - if you'll forgive me - you no longer believe that Jesus is coming at the end of time to restore perfect justice. You didn't find Jesus coming to you and saying 'yeah, I was never going to do that,' instead Brigid came with another path of devotion. That is beautiful.

But I'm sure you could find people with the reverse story, who thought that Brigid would usher in a new age of feminine consciousness, or something, lost faith in that and found Jesus giving a message that the pain of the world was beyond that kind of healing...

So... I think I might have lost my actual question...
